# Resolve Common StaccShare Account and Sign-In Issues

> Fix sign-in problems, email verification issues, forgotten passwords, and account access issues in StaccShare with step-by-step solutions.

If you're having trouble signing in or accessing your StaccShare account, this page covers the most common issues and how to resolve them quickly. Work through the relevant section below — if none of these steps solve the problem, reach out to the support team at the bottom of the page.

## Can't sign in

<Accordion title="Forgotten password">
  1. Go to [app.staccshare.com/login](https://app.staccshare.com/login)
  2. Click **Forgot password?** below the sign-in form
  3. Enter the email address associated with your account
  4. Check your inbox for a password reset email — it arrives within a few minutes
  5. Click the link in the email and set a new password

  <Warning>
    Password reset links expire after **1 hour**. If you didn't use the link in time, go back to the login page and request a new one.
  </Warning>
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Wrong email or password">
  Double-check the email address you used when you signed up — it's easy to have accounts under different addresses. If you originally signed up using **Continue with Google**, you won't have a separate StaccShare password. Use the **Continue with Google** button on the login page instead of the email and password fields.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Account locked">
  After 10 consecutive failed sign-in attempts, StaccShare temporarily locks the account for **30 minutes** as a security measure. Wait out the lockout period and try again, or reset your password to regain access immediately without waiting.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Email not recognised">
  If StaccShare says it doesn't recognise your email, you may have signed up with a different address, or you may not have an account yet. Try clicking **Sign up** — if your email is already registered, StaccShare will redirect you to sign in instead of creating a duplicate account.
</Accordion>

## Email verification issues

<Accordion title="Didn't receive the verification email">
  First, check your **spam or junk folder** — verification emails occasionally get filtered. To make sure future emails land in your inbox, add `noreply@staccshare.com` to your contacts or safe sender list.

  To resend the verification email:

  1. Go to [app.staccshare.com/login](https://app.staccshare.com/login) and sign in
  2. You'll see a banner at the top of the page prompting you to verify your email
  3. Click **Resend verification email**
  4. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the new email
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Verification link expired">
  Verification links expire after **24 hours**. If your link has expired:

  1. Go to [app.staccshare.com/login](https://app.staccshare.com/login) and sign in
  2. Click **Resend verification email** in the verification banner
  3. Use the new link within 24 hours
</Accordion>

## Two-factor authentication (2FA) issues

<Accordion title="Lost access to my authenticator app">
  If you can no longer access your authenticator app (e.g., you lost your phone or uninstalled the app), use a **recovery code** to sign in:

  1. On the 2FA prompt during sign-in, click **Use a recovery code**
  2. Enter one of the recovery codes you saved when you set up 2FA

  Each recovery code can only be used once. Once you're signed in, go to **Settings → Security** to set up 2FA again with your new device and generate fresh recovery codes.

  <Warning>
    If you've lost all of your recovery codes and can't access your authenticator app, contact [support@staccshare.com](mailto:support@staccshare.com). You'll need to verify your identity before the team can remove 2FA from your account.
  </Warning>
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="How to disable 2FA">
  1. Go to **Settings → Security**
  2. Under **Two-factor authentication**, click **Disable 2FA**
  3. Confirm with your current password

  2FA is removed immediately. You can re-enable it at any time from the same settings page.
</Accordion>

## Account not found after switching SSO providers

If you previously signed in with **Continue with Google** and now try to sign in with email and password (or vice versa), StaccShare may not recognise you — each authentication method is tied to the account it was first used with.

Try signing in with the original method you used when you created your account. If you need to link a different sign-in method to your existing account — for example, if your Google account is being decommissioned — contact [support@staccshare.com](mailto:support@staccshare.com) and the team will help you migrate your authentication method without losing your files or settings.
